DANZ - far-left monument in photo with two TANZ monuments;  -  See also: TANZ.   Are DANZ and TANZ related, and if so, how?  A Tanz descendant, Bob Carroll, says in an email dated 9/13/2005 to fjzclu@aol.com "I'm sure there is a relationship between the Danz and Tanz families.  I have a ship manifest from Caspar and Elizabeth.  They were actually listed as Danz on the manifest, not Tanz.  Apparently they changed the spelling of their name after they immigrated to the U.S.  Christian [Tanz] also came over on the same ship and also used the last name Danz on the ship..."   NOTE:  The map of the cemetery shows Lot 10 as one-half "Gottfried Ronneberger" and one-half "Albert Tanz".

Danz, Albert - No "Albert Danz" appears to be buried here, but he is mentioned in the inscription on the monument of Alma Ida Danz (below) "wife of Albert Danz".  Adjacent to the south of the Alma Ida Danz monument are two TANZ monuments, but there is no known relationship at this time -- although all three monuments are located on map in Lot 10 "Albert Tanz" and "Gottfried Ronneberger".

RONNEBERGER monument; located on map in Lot 10 "Gottfried Ronneberger" - "Albert Tanz"; in group picture with DANZ & TANZ in row to the rear.  According to information provided by Bob Carroll (a Tanz descendent) in an email to fjzclu@aol.com on 9-13-2004, Gottfried and Henrietta Ronneberger were the maternal grandparents of Albert Tanz (whose monument is also in Lot 10).  That is, the Ronnebergers were the parents of Anna Linna Ronneberger who married  Bernhardt Tanz; Anna and Bernhardt Tanz were the parents of Albert Tanz whose monument.  Also see Albert Tanz.

Tanz, Albert   May 18, 1881 - Jan 7, 1898 (center monument in photo); another view - also center monument in photoLocated on map in Lot 10In an email dated 9/14/2005, Bob Carroll says "I am a descendant of the Tanz family and can tell you that Albert Tanz...died of Pneumonia at the age of 17 in 1898....Albert Tanz was the son of Bernhardt Tanz and Anna Linna (Ronneberger) Tanz.  They [Bernhardt Tanz and Anna Linna (Ronneberger) Tanz] were married and resided in Albany but I believe both died in Mondovi, WI.  Albert Tanz is the grandson of Caspar Tanz and Elizabeth (Bitner) Tanz who are buried in Pepin..."  Thank you, Bob Carroll, for sharing this information!

Tanz's inscription is on the north side of this Tanz monument -- far right in the photograph of Ronneberger, Danz and two Tanz monuments.  This monument includes an inscription about Caspar's wife Elizabeth on the west side; in the photo, the side inscribed for CLICK to view inscription about CASPAR J TANZ and the side inscribed for ELIZABETH M.
